The weather has been great for growing vegetables. A little rain would be nice, because watering can be quite a chore. We are all anxiously waiting for the peas to be harvested, but unfortunately they are not in blossom yet. So all we are saying is give peas a chance, to bloom that is.

This week we’re expecting mixed lettuces, asian greens, spinach, kohlrabi, kale, swiss chard, and heads of lettuce (mother nature may decide to add or subtract from this list).

Swiss Chard

Storage Tips: Wrap swiss chard in a damp towel or place in a plastic bag and keep in the hydrator drawer of the refrigerator. Chard is best used fresh, but will keep for 2-4 days if kept moist and refrigerated. Chard freezes well. Blanch chopped leaves for 3 minutes, rinse under cold water to stop cooking process, drain, squeeze lightly, and place in an airtight container such as a zip-lock freezer bag.
