This week meet Lee and find out what being a member of the CSA means to her. Lee is also the block association president of the 100 Sterling Street Block Association.
Who are you? Lee Coker-Holmes
What do you do? Right now I’m a SAHM, who volunteers a lot.
Where do you live? PLG
Where did you grow up? Mostly Brooklyn . Lucky me!
How long have you been a member? This is my first season.
When you do your pickup where are you coming from? Most days the playground.
Where are you going to? Usually home, but sometimes to my sister’s to share some of the goodies.
What are you never without at pickup? Definitely my two children. Alanna & Ezra.
What time is it usually? After 6pm so that most of the MSS children are gone, otherwise I would never get Alanna out of there.
Who cooks your veggies/fruits? You’re suppose to cook them? I think that’s the stuff I give my sister.
Who eats them? My entire family.
What do you think you use the most? The salad greens and the fresh herbs.
What’s your favorite fruit or veggie score? The strawberries! It seemed like a lot until my son, Ezra decided to start sharing them with our dog.
What’s the best part of the CSA? Knowing where my children’s food comes from is #1. I’ve also had a chance to meet quite a few of my neighbors.
Is there a fun fact about you that you would like to share? Sure, but there’ll be a small fee.
If you were a fruit or veggie what would you be? A tomato. Why? Because I’m not what/who most people think I am.
