DISCOUNTS and SNAP/EBT

We offer a limited number of subsidy/discounts for those who need assistance. Discounts are prioritized for returning members on a first-come first-served basis and are based on single shares of vegetables, fruit AND/OR eggs. (Additional shares will be at full price.)

If would like to pay with SNAP/EBT select “YES” and select the EBT option and complete the registration. You will then be contacted for your SNAP information. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact board@plgcsa.org or 646-397-4568 and leave a message.

DISCOUNTED SHARES
Please read this then choose a discount level below

The CSA is committed to ensuring that ALL can afford organic, super fresh, local vegetables regardless of income. In 2025, we provided over $12,000 in subsidies to approximately 12% of the membership. We are NOT eligible for grants (we are not a 501(c)3 non-profit) so all money for subsidies must be raised through generous donations from our membership which limits the amount of funds we have to give. A limited number of discounts are available based on income level and household size and are based on single shares of vegetables, fruit AND/OR eggs. (Additional shares will be at full price.).

If you need a subsidy (discount), there is no formal application process. Subsidies are for people who need it due to their own personal situations and we trust you to make that decision. Read the following to determine if you should or should not take a subsidy.

Some (not all) examples of why you SHOULD take a subsidy:

  • You are unemployed
  • You or anyone in your household do not have the ability to work
  • You are on Social Security, SSDI, or have a chronic illness with medical expenses
  • You receive government assistance (e.g. SNAP)
  • You are the sole earner in your household of 2 or more
  • You are un(der)insured
  • You face significant debt, immigration fees or rehabilitation fees

Some (not all) examples of why you SHOULD NOT take a subsidy, if:

  • You work part-time by choice
  • You can afford to pay over several months
  • You can afford to travel
  • You have a support network who can help you financially when you need
  • You own a home, apartment or property
  • You live with others who have the ability to work or are working

See the household and income tiers below for subsidy levels. We based income levels on New York City’s Area Median Income (AMI) and the US Housing and Urban Development adjusted home income limits, but choose the discount that makes the most sense for you. Your information will be kept confidential.

If you still think you can’t afford the CSA, please contact us at board@plgcsa.org and we can figure it out! We do not want to keep you from joining because you thi

DONATE! HELP OTHERS PARTICIPATE IN THE CSA

In order to make the CSA accessible to anyone regardless of income, we rely on your generous donations and any extra money we have to cover share costs for those who can’t afford full price. PLG CSA is not a tax-exempt non-profit so we are not eligible for grants. In 2023 we subsidized over $10,000 to almost 30 households, with most of our households receiving a 50% discount.

Please consider donating to ensure that anyone in our community can participate in the CSA and have access to fresh, organic and/or local food.

Thank you for your support!

2026 Agreement

AGREEMENT AND WAIVER(Required)

Submission of this form and my deposit or full payment confirm my agreement to become a member in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens Community Supported Agriculture (PLG CSA) for the 2026 season.

I agree to follow all policies, volunteer requirements and procedures as outlined in the most current PLG CSA Member Handbook that will be distributed to me upon my registration and receipt of payment or deposit.

I understand that CSA involves sharing the rewards and risks (e.g. crop failure, poor weather, early winter, pandemics, etc.) with our farmer. I accept that there may be things that are out of the control of the farmer or PLG CSA that may put my share at risk and that, while the farmer and PLG CSA will do everything within their power to ensure that shares are distributed and commitments are kept, events may lead to shares being delayed or cancelled without reimbursement. I understand that this is part of the shared risk of a CSA. I understand that my share may vary from week to week and that there is no guarantee on the exact amount or contents of my share. The shares will vary in weight and size depending on the time of season.

I agree not to hold PLG CSA or anyone acting on its behalf, including any agents, officers, volunteers, or employees, responsible for any and all damages and/or costs resulting from injuries sustained as a result of any carelessness or negligence by any person while engaged in any event or activity, including but not limited to the weekly distribution, farm visits, or any event or activity that is sponsored, held, or coordinated by PLG CSA. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless PLG CSA and/or Trail Blazers against all claims, including, without limitation, third party claims, demands, recoveries and deficiencies suffered, incurred or sustained by PLG CSA and/or the Trail Blazers which arise out of my negligence, gross negligence, and/or willful misconduct while engaged in any event or activity, including but not limited to the weekly distribution, farm visits, or any event or activity that is sponsored, held, or coordinated by PLG CSA.

By participating in PLG CSA, I’m bringing healthy local organic food to my neighborhood, supporting local and alternative agriculture, building community and making Prospect Lefferts Gardens a great place to live! I have read this agreement and agree to its terms.

Shifts

The CSA is run by volunteers and cooperatively. Every household/share is required to work at least ONE shift in the season of about 4.5 hours.
Exemption for Working In-Person Shifts
Check here if you cannot work because you are immunocompromised, disabled, pregnant or recently had a child, or care for someone who is high risk for Covid. If you are not able to work in person, other volunteer work will be assigned. If you prefer not to answer here, please feel free to email board@plgcsa.org with your situation. All personal information will be kept confidential.
Emergency CSA Shifts
Toward the end of the CSA season we are always in need of a couple extra volunteers to help unload and get us set up and going. We rely on you, the dedicated few to help pick up the slack! Please check here if you can work extra shifts on short notice.
When you submit your registration, you should receive a confirmation in your email. If you do NOT receive a copy, then our registration may not have gone through! Please contact board@plgcsa.org.
